Top 10 Essentials to Losing Weight

Losing weight is not that hard to do. Youve probably conquered weight loss more than once in your life, havent you? You know what it takes and you know what to do. What holds us back when we need to lose weight yet again?

There are 10 essential components to get you back to losing weight again when you seem to keep procrastinating about it.

  • Get control over your life. Do you feel tugged and pulled in all directions by people around you? Set boundaries and take care of yourself. Most of the people around you can take care of themselves if you begin to stop doing it for them. This alone can give you the grounded feeling that will begin moving you forward.
  • Get rid of all the food in the house that isnt good for you or anyone else, but is just something you like to eat. Do you notice when you are upset about anything there is a certain food you begin stuffing in your mouth almost without thought? For some that food is something crunchy like popcorn or potato chips.
  • List all the foods you like that have zero calories such as broccoli, cauliflower, green beans. Youll be relieved to know you are safe to eat all you want when these are on the menu.
  • Begin to pay attention to how many calories are in each food you eat. Dont allow yourself to have more than 250 calories for a meal and 100 calories for a snack.
  • Eat when you are hungry. When you do eat, focus on how delicious the food is. Enjoy the taste, the feel and the smell of the food and make it last. You will find you are more satisfied when you do this.
  • Move your body. Do you find you are often sitting down at your desk or sitting in front of the television? When you take a break from your work, go outside and enjoy the beauty of the day. If its raining or snowing, enjoy the beauty of the rain or snow as it falls and the sound of it. When in front of the television, turn off the sound. Its the sound that holds you there indefinitely. When you leave the room for any reason, turn off the volume. This can keep you from going back in there and sitting down.
  • Join a group. Think of a hobby you enjoy and find an interest group about this hobby. When you join the group, it will revive your enthusiasm and remind you of how it feels to feel great. You will find yourself getting out more and walking around more as a result.
  • Join an athletic group. A community group of cyclists will often have groups of beginners, intermediate and advanced people. You could start a walking club of your own. This would cause you to be accountable to walking for the sake of the group if you are having trouble doing it for your own sake. Often when we are making a difference for others, we are more committed to our intentions.
  • Imagine an event where you want to be your best. Is your son or daughter getting married in a few months? Start now defining how many calories per month you must lose to look your best on the wedding date.
  • Think about what it will be like when your grandchildren want to go to Disney World with you and you are too tired to participate and see the glee on their faces because you are too tired to last the day as a result of your physical condition.
  • When you apply these ten strategies to weight loss, your success is assured. Get in action today and get it done. You will be elated as you begin to see the results beginning with the first pound lost!
