Family and Self Leadership - Sun Tzu's Tip

He writes, "... [in order to be successful at war] the people (soldiers) have to be in complete accord with their ruler, so that they will follow him regardless of their lives, undismayed by any danger." In other words, to succeed at war (or to succeed to reach any goal) you have to totally, one hundred percent, and fully,follow someone . Whatever goal you are aiming to achieve there will surely be obstacles in your way of success. Therefore, if there is any distrust or doubt in what you are doing you will not have the strength to overcome these obstacles and you will then almost surely never reach your goal. On the other hand when you totally trust the leader you will be able to overcome these obstacles and attain success. There are two areas in which you need to be sure. Firstly, that the goal that you want to reach is really worth the effort. If on New Year's Day you saw a beautiful butterfly and decided to have the world's biggest collection of butterflies... well it is very likely that as the days go on, you will reconsider it's importance and not be willing to sacrifice too much for this goal. However, there is more chance of sticking with a resolution not to smoke if you saw someone with emphysema. Secondly, you have to trust the plan that you chose to reach this goal. As the saying goes, "there are many ways to skin a cat". However you can't mix and match them. For instance if Sunday morning you follow a high protein diet and in the afternoon you change over to a "high carb" diet obviously you are not going to lose any weight. You have to be consistent with what you do to be successful. It is the same with any goal; carefully choose a plan that makes sense to you AND STICK WITH IT!!! My suggestion then to you is: *Spend a few days thinking of your goal to make sure that it is REALLY important to you. *Spend time researching different ways to reach that goal to see which one "fits" your strengths, your personality, and your present situation. After you have done this it will be much easier for you to reach that goal and on Oct. 14 (which is 143 days from today) you will proudly be able to exclaim that you HAVE kept your resolutions!
